Community Grant Perkiins Adult Learning Program
The Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation Awards Community Grant to Perkins Community Center in Boston
Boston, MA, November 20, 2007 – The Brown Rudnick Charitable Foundation Corp., a
nonprofit, tax-exempt entity established by attorneys from Brown Rudnick Berlack Israels
LLP, today announced that it has awarded one of its Community Grants to the Perkins
Community Center in Boston. The grant will be used to support the Anthony Perkins Adult
Learning Program in Dorchester by funding the purchase of educational toys, games and
equipment needed for a child day care program.
Created to support front-line educators who often do not have a voice in funding decisions, the
Community Grants subsidize small, concrete projects, which will improve inner-city education in
Boston, Hartford, Providence or New York within the coming year. The Foundation will generally
consider grant applications monthly and award grants in an amount totaling not more than
$2000 in any one month. To find out more about grant applications and an explanation of the program follow the link.
Michael Farma, Education Unit Manager/Chief GED Examiner, said, “We are delighted to
receive this Community Grant from Brown Rudnick. We had secured a grant from the Boston
Adult Literacy Fund (BALF) for the child care program which students enrolled in our English
and GED classes can use for their children. Although the BALF grant pays the wages of the
child care provider, there were no funds available to equip the child care center with toys and
other materials. Thanks to Brown Rudnick, the parents or guardians attending class will be
less distracted knowing that their children are more engaged and entertained while in child
care.”
