Day care business owners to graduate from program
Shreveport Police Dept., Louisiana. June, 2004. Based upon the information released by Public Information Officer. Several Shreveport citizens will be launching their own at-home day care businesses, thanks to a partnership with the Queensborough/Ingleside Weed and Seed and the United Way of Northwest Louisiana. The program was launched earlier this year as a way to empower individuals who would like to start their own in-home daycare business. Those who qualified and completed the program got everything they needed to run their own child care business – cribs, toys, baby supplies, equipment and even the 60 hours of certification training -- all paid for by Weed and Seed. They also will be provided a business mentor to work with them in their business for six months. Nine participants have completed 60 hours of child development training, while another two completed 120 hours of training and earned the Child Development Assistant Certification. Instructors of the course were from the Northwestern State University Child and Family Network.

I can't refinance into a fixed (my initial plan) because my house won't appraise for what I owe.
The child-care crisis. When both parents work, families need someone to mind the kids. But with costs as high as $14,650 a year, day care can swallow most of one parent's wages. With child care for infants running as high as $14,650 a year and care for a 4-year-old in a licensed center as high as $10,920, child-care costs have outpaced what the average family spends on food, according to the National Association of Child Care Resources and Referral Agencies. It's possible to find a baby sitter during work hours if you are offering regular work, but few caregivers are willing to come in for a day here or there.
Some of the most financially successful home-based businesses in 2007 atually made a conscious, strategic decision to transition from a traditional office environment to a home-based operation. They did this for efficiency. "Home-preneurs" are operating more viably now than ever before.
