Federal Program Promotes Nutrition in Child Care Homes. The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded program to help childcare home providers serve nutritious meals to children in their care. The CACFP helps to make children healthy and happy in home day care by reimbursing the child care provider for feeding healthy meals. To be eligible to participate in the CACFP, childcare providers must be registered with the Oregon Child Care Division and be sponsored in the CACFP. A childcare provider participating in the CACFP must make the same meals available to all enrolled children at no separate charge. Ordinance 19.04.293 Home Daycare and Preschool: “Home Day Care/Preschool” is defined as the keeping for care and/or preschool instruction of twelve or less children including the care giver’s own children under the age of six and not yet in full day school within the caregiver’s dwelling and yard. State regulations require two caregiver’s if there are more than six children in a home day care at one time and may further limit the number of children allowed in a home day care. A home day care/preschool must meet certain standards.
