Unclaimed funds list available on the city of Rome, NY, website
Press Release - April 12, 2006 2006
The city of Rome issued the following press release:
Have you ever wondered if you have money somewhere that you didn't know about? Well you just might. The State of New York is currently holding billions of dollars in unclaimed funds. Some of this money may belong to you!
For your protection, banks, insurance companies, utilities, investment companies and many other businesses are required by State law to surrender inactive accounts to the State. The Office of the New York State Comptroller serves as custodian of this money until it is claimed. The State of New York never takes ownership of this money. If you can prove you are entitled to the money, it will returned to you, at any time, without charge.
Upon request from Mayor Brown's administration, The New York State Comptroller has provided a list or Romans whose name appears on the unclaimed funds list. The list has been posted on the City of Rome website. The list contains the name of the person who is entitled to the funds, the date the funds were reported and the name of the reporting organization.
