The State of Arkansas requires businesses and government agencies to file unclaimed property annual reports with the State Auditor to locate missing owners.
Any holder who fails to file a report of unclaimed property is subject to fines and penalties as provided in the Unclaimed Property Act, Arkansas Code Annotated §18-28-224.
A person who willfully fails to render any report or perform other duties required under the Act, or who makes a fraudulent report, must pay a civil penalty of $1,000 per day up to a maximum of $25,000 plus 25% of the value of any property that should have been but was not reported.
