Does Florida Government really owe you money?
The Florida unclaimed property by the end of the year 2003 was estimated as $1 billion, mostly from dormant accounts in financial institutions, insurance and utility companies, safe deposit boxes and trust holdings. Unclaimed money is being deposited into a State School Fund, and used exclusively for public education. There is, however, no statute of limitations.
Citizens have the right to claim property, at no cost to them and at any time, regardless of the amount.
